Loose Women star Jane Moore believes Meghan Markle didn't stand a chance when she joined the Royal Family. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, became an official member of the Royal Family when she tied the knot with Prince Harry, 40, in 2018. Just two years later, the couple stepped down as senior royals. They moved to California where they now raise their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three. Since then, Harry's relationship with his brother, Prince William, has declined.

He opened up about the breakdown of their relationship during their 2022 Netflix documentary, accusing the 42-year-old of screaming and shouting at him at a summit meeting over his decision to step down from the royal family. It is unknown where the brothers stand at the moment, but rumours of a deep feud have circulated ever since. Speaking on the Loose Women podcast, Jane, 62, believes Princess Diana would be "devastated" that her sons have fallen out and is certain things would be different if she was still alive.

Speaking to co-star Sunetra Sarker, Jane declared: "Princess Diana would be devastated that her two boys have fallen out, at the heart of it is Harry and William and the fact that their relationship has gone like that.

"Had she been alive through it, I don't think it would have gotten to this point. I think she would have loved Meghan, liked her independence, I think she would have liked the fact she was American. At the time we all encouraged that wedding."

The I'm A Celebrity star questioned what went wrong behind the scenes because "it was looking great" for a while. Sunetra, 51, was intrigued whether Diana, who died aged 36 in 1997, would have brokered a situation between William and Harry.

"I think she would have seen Meghan get that look in her eye, because even though Dianna was British and her family were quite aristocratic, it was even a shock for her and she had to adjust," Jane said. "She would have seen that Meghan wasn't coping with this and would have taken her under her wing."

Jane believes Diana would have helped Meghan navigate the experience she also endured. She added: "I don't think Meghan had anyone like that."

Playing "devil's advocate", Sunetra questioned whether Diana would have warmed to Kate Middleton first, saying: "You know what happens with a mother-in-law, Kate may have got that role already and got in Diana's heart."

Noting the difference between William and Harry's relationships, Jane said: "Kate and William were together for 10 years before they got married and had a very protected first three years, the media largely left them alone. That was something Diana negotiated for them."

She also pointed out the difference between Kate, 43, and Meghan's backgrounds, which meant the former Suits actress started on the backfoot.

The presenter explained: "Kate comes from a very solid family, her mum and dad are still together. William loves going to their house because it's a normal, cosy family set up whereas Meghan came from divorced parents and landed in Britain and didn't have much of a chance."

Sunetra pointed out that Meghan was a divorcee following the breakdown of her marriage to American film producer Trevor Engelson.

"By the time she started dating Harry, they didn't really have any time together privately," Jane added before concluding: "If Diana was still around, I don't think Harry would be having half of the issues that he's clearly having."
